This is a beautiful Victorian tea pot with ivory details and warming stand. The kettle has beautiful details on the pouring spout, handle and lid that are trademarks of the Victorian Era design and influence. The lid has a hand carved ivory knob and the handle also has two ivory pieces w the decorative design meets the center w the kettle is carried. The tea pot is clearly stamped "Made in England" as well as the marking for The Barker Brothers Silver Company of Birmingham, England. This English company has a very complicated history and at times has also been called "Barker Ellis" among other names. The particular marking on this piece to indicate the marker dates back to the company's founding in 1860. The pot is mounted on a stand (also referred to as a "chaffing dish" or "spirit lamp") that contains a burner underneath to keep the tea or coffee warm and has the same fine qaulity of detail as the rest of the piece. T are two pins that attach the upper pot to the legged base and can be easily removed so the pot can be lifted. The warmer can be seperated from the stand to be refilled with burning oil or to replace the wick. It is also marked "Made in England" and one of the handles on the warmers is marked "Prov. Patent 1758/12." This item is silver plate and in very good condition with no dings or scratches. A good shining would read more
