This antique Victorian photo album is nearly full, and includes 36 page sides. The book has a velvet hardbound cover, with an embossed leather decoration on the front. The embossed part depicts a fantasy hunting scene, where a hunter makes his way through a forest full of animals. The book retains a neat working sliding brass buckle/latch. The pages of the album are just a bit loose, but the binding is sound and there are no splits on the spine. The album measures 10-1/2” x 8-3/4” x 2-3/4”, and there are no pages missing. The album contains 45 photos and cabinet cards, and also some ephemera, such as 2 letters (one dated 1897), a ribbon, a calling card, and another loose cabinet card. There may be more things tucked in behind the photos – I did not check. Overall, the album is in excellent condition, and the contents are interesting and sharp. In one letter, the writer alludes to abuse that the receiver has endured at the hands of her husband, and gives her some advice on that issue. The album is from a Michigan family, and most, if not all, of the contents are of Michigan origin.
