BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN WALNUT SHADOW BOX FRAME, OCTAGONAL SHAPE. Frame is circa 1880 âe" 1890âe(tm)s.
ORIGINAL DARK WALNUT FINISH IN GOOD CONDITION WITH EBONIZED ACCENTS AND ORIGINAL GOLD TONE STENCILED LINER, Frame is 22 ¼ inches, side to side, measured from the top. From the back, the sides of the octagonal box are 20 inches across and 3 inches deep. The back box is probably pine, and was originally lined with paper, which is pretty much gone. The whole frame measures 4 ½ inches deep. The frame is in pretty good condition âe" some slight spacing of the corners of the pine back octagon, but the back is well attached to the walnut front frame. Nails and tacks are visible that held the backing of the frame in place. I have no backing. Also, no glass. A slight space or two at the top corners, but some corners were nicely reinforced man years ago. The whole thing is pretty firm and ready to use. Many times these are used to display a bridal bouquet. ALL SALES FINAL. I am selling items that are over a hundred years old. Remember, no glass. No backing. Naturally t will be irregularities and flaws in the wood, just because of the age. I will describe an item as best I can, and will try to picture any irregularities or missing parts, but ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID!
