Up for Auction & your consideration is a wonderful Rare Antique English Victorian Writing Slope which I was told dates back to around the 1860s to 1880's and was purchased from an Estate directly in Cheshire England whilst I was on vacation t It is offered as found and as it is pictured as a Very Nice example of this type of portable Desk and has survived in wonderful condition. I'm unsure of what type of wood this is but it has a nice weight to it and it is in a Gorgeous Cherrywood Reddish color with a beautiful grain with Brass Corners with what looks to be an Ivory Inlayed Shield on the Lid and a smaller type Ivory Shield on the side around the Lock which unfortunately does not have the key.It has One long compartment which hold the wooden Pen Rest which is still t in in Very Good shape too and 3 square compartments in the front one for stamps and such I was told and two with 2 Glass Inkwells with their Brass Caps inside and also the wodden writing tray to hold your pen while the desk is open and it measures 5 1/4" in Thickness Closed and is 13 13/16" in Length and 8 13/16" in Width. In Very Good condition it needs a new writing leather other than that is in nice shape and has survived wonderfully well to say it way over a hundred years old and would would make a great addition to anyone's Antique Collection. What an Excellent Christmas read more
