A Victory Medal with correctly impressed naming to 5448 Pte.E.Fewtrell, N.Staff.R. This soldier’s name was Ernest Fewtrell and he was killed in action in France on 1 st July 1916 serving with the 5 th (Territorial) Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment. I believe his regiment was part of the 46 th North Midland Division who took part in the diversionary attack at Gommecourt on the first day of the Battle of The Somme. The medal has become badly discoloured and has some traces of verdigris. I think it would probably clean up quite well if you felt so inclined. There are some small rim knocks but all of the naming is clear. Soldiers Died in the Great War says he resided at Fenton, Staffs & enlisted at Hanley. Please note that I cannot post to an overseas PO Box as Royal Mail will not insure consignments to overseas PO Boxes.
