You are bidding on an Original Vintage Vietnam Era United States Army Officer's Visor Cap with Bullion Trim, Insignia and Patches Grouping Named to a Lt. Colonel. The visor cap is private purchase from Vans Brothers and is a very large Size 7 3/8's with bullion scrambled eggs on the visor, and is in very good condition with the Officer's name card inside the lining. The insignia includes a subduded Combat Infantryman's Badge by N.S. Meyer, Lt. Col. Rank Insignia, 1st Division Patch Subduded, 1st Army Patch, Ranger Tab, and patches and DI's from Norwich Academy. T is other items not shown as well including several ribbon bar frames and other items including his V for Valor device. From his obit which will be included with the grouping his military career spanned 23 years, beginning June 15, 1951 to May 31, 1974. He initially served in the US Army as an Armored Officer and later as a Logistics Officer. His service included tours of duty in Fort Knox, KY; Korea, Japan, Austria, Germany, Chicago, Maryland and Vietnam, w he received the Bronze Star for meritorious service. His distinguished career included assignments as Armored (Tank) Platoon Leader, Company and Battalion Commander, and several key staff assignments. He was a champion military marksman, competing on several levels in military competition. His many schools included the Defense Language Institute w he studied Vietnamese, and later the Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, two awards of the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal and the Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class.
