CHARMING VINTAGE VIETNAMESE LACQUER BOX Pretty little box with brown lacquer and two koi fish swimming through delicate strands of seaweed. Gold leaf was used to carefully paint each tiny strand of foliage and the graceful gold, orange and green fish. Box measures 5" wide x 2 3/4" deep x 2 1/4" high, with a slightly tented lid and solid wooden base . The artist Tranha and VIETNAM is painted in gold inside the lid (see photo). This pretty piece comes from the estate of a couple of spies from the Vietnam War era. They were friends with the artist, and acquired several of his pieces. Please see my other auction items for more like this. This piece is in beautiful vintage condition and may have minimal dings, scratches and tiny surface cracks (see photos). I do not know how to safely polish lacquer so I have left it as is. I have tried to provide you with the best possible photos. Lacquer is difficult to photograph!
