Up for auction is a very unique 3D viewer, that is Viewmaster "based", but was created by a company called Western Optical Supply. I have no historical information about this viewer. There is a patent number listed on the bottom (Picture #11) - the patent itself can be viewed in detail on the US Patent & Trademark Office - it was filed in 1992. The beige viewer does have an actual Viewmaster viewer inside - a red model, and from what I can see, it can not be removed. The information on the base of the viewer itself (Picture #4) describes how it should be used, so I am going to assume that this was sold to businesses that wanted to market their products using custom made Viewmaster reels. The condition of this viewer is very good - it was purchased in the mid 1990s, and has not been used (it has been stored very well). There is a power cord included, and the viewer does light up and it all seems to work fine. This is an interesting viewer from a marketing "perspective" - it would have been a great way to promote your products at trade shows and meetings - everything looks better in 3D! I have included 6 Viewmaster reels along with this viewer: Eska Protein Wave - the reel is regarding a hair permanent product (no date), mint condition. The Curtis Marshmallow Program - from the Curtiss Candy Company in Chicago Illinois (no date)
