PRETTY VILLEROY & BOCH AMAPOLA 3.5" COFFEE MUG - FINE GERMAN PORCELAIN - DISCONTINUED PATTERN - MINT Up for auction we have the Villeroy & Boch 3.5" coffee mug in the popular but now discontinued pattern Amapola . This pretty Villeroy & Boch piece would make a wonderful wedding gift and is in mint condition ! The mug features the much sought after Villeroy & Boch pattern Amapola (means poppy, which is the California state flower), a colorful, contemporary green, peach, and blue floral design sprayed across snow white bone china. It is in mint condition with absolutely no chips, cracks, scratches, or the like. Founded in 1748, the Villeroy and Boch Co. is a family owned German company that for eight generations has designed and produced extraordinary porcelain and tableware designs treasured around the globe. Today, it is the world's largest producer of ceramics, making everything from egg cups to bathtubs. For decades, popes, crowned royalty, the rich and famous, and renowned restaurants and chefs on every continent have chosen Villeroy & Boch dinnerware for their tables. Its tiles even line the Holland Tunnel in New York!
Villeroy & Boch produced the Amapola pattern from 1981-2001 but sadly, it has since been discontinued. Since no more pieces are being produced, as time goes on this pattern will obviously become more collectible, particularly those marked " West Germany ", which denotes that the item was crafted before the reunification of Germany in the early 1990s. (Many of the pieces in the Amapola collection we are currently beginning to auction on eBay bear this mark.)
