PRETTY VILLEROY & BOCH NAIF CHRISTMAS 7-1/8" COFFEE POT WITH LID - FINE GERMAN PORCELAIN - DISCONTINUED PATTERN - MINT Up for auction we have the Villeroy & Boch 7-1/8" coffee pot and matching lid in the popular but now discontinued pattern Naif Chrismas . Made to hold four cups of coffee , this pretty Villeroy & Boch piece would make a wonderful wedding gift and is in mint condition ! The pot features the much sought after Villeroy & Boch pattern Naif Christmas , a colorful holiday design sprayed across ivory white bone china. It is in mint condition with absolutely no chips, cracks, scratches, or the like.This festive holiday pattern features various folk art paintings created by the world renowned folk artist, Gerard LaPlau . LaPlau belongs to the French school of naïve artists who are heavily influenced by the work of Henri Rousseau. The name "Naïf" refers to a form of simple folk art often produced by artists who do not have any formal training. Naive art is known for a simple style that uses unbound perspective, bright colors, and in many cases very literal depiction of imaginary scenes. LaPlau was chosen by Villeroy and Boch because of his charming depictions of village Christmas scenes. Naif Christmas was produced as an accent for the company's popular Design Naif pattern. Founded in 1748, the Villeroy and Boch Co. is a family owned German company that for eight generations has designed and produced extraordinary porcelain and tableware designs treasured around the globe. Today, it is the world's largest producer of ceramics, making everything from egg cups to bathtubs. For decades, popes, crowned royalty, the rich and famous, and renowned restaurants and chefs on every continent have chosen Villeroy & Boch dinnerware for their tables. Its tiles even line the Holland Tunnel in New York!
Villeroy & Boch produced the Naif Christmas pattern from 1983-1999 but sadly, it has since been discontinued. Since no more pieces are being produced, as time goes on this pattern will obviously become more collectible.
