Today I will be offering some very early American documents, some dating back into the 1700's, and some naming Revolutionary War veterans. Conditions vary - read each description carefully. All items guaranteed vintage and authentic, some over 200 years old - no reproductions. THIS ITEM: A vintage 214 year old document, this is a notice to the Sheriff of Middlesex County, Cy, or the Constable of Middletown, Ct to Summon Mr Wait Plum to appear before the court of Middletown to answer a complaint lodged by Mr Matthew Russell, also of that town. Mr Plum apparently hadn't paid off a loan that was made to him by Mr Russell on July 12, 1799. The document is signed and dated Elijah Hubbard, Justice of the Peace, March 3, 1800. On Google I found a plan of Main Street, Middletown from about 1700 - 1775. It shows that Wait Plum owned a joiner's shop where he did finish carpentry. On the reverse is a notation by Sheriff Parsons that the summons was served by him and accepted by Wait Plum. There is also some calculating done and signed by an alderman, Lemuel Stowe (Stone, Store?). The document is complete and intact, and measures about 6.5 by 8 inches. CONDITION : Excellent with minimal wear on the corners & edges, old mailing folds. No rips, splits, creases, or other damage. Displays very nicely. I regularly offer vintage ephemera, real photo
