VINTAG SIGNED JAPANESE STERLING SILVER 960 YACHT SHIP PRESENTED IS A VERY RARE FINEST QUALITY HAND CRAFTED "TAKARA BUN-E" TREASURE SHIP CIRCA MID 20TH CENTURY BY MASTER JAPANESE SILVERSMITH SEKI TAKEHIKO . THE SHIP IS MADE OF STERLING 960 INDICATING HIGHER SILVER PURITY THAN ENGLISH STERLING 925 , IT IS SIGNED SEKI AND IS MARKED STERLING 960 , IT SITS ON A SILVER PLATED SEA WITH WAVES MARKED (SILVERPLATED) AND IS MOUNTED TO A WOODEN BASE AND ENCASED IN A GLASS CASE COVER , PLEASE SEE PHOTOS . SIZE : THE YACHT MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 4 7/8 INCHES OR 12.2 cm LONG AND STANDS 5 5/8 INCHES OR 14.2 cm HIGH . THE GLASS CASE MEASURES 8 INCHES OR 20 cm LONG X 9 1/8 INCHES OR 23 cm HIGH X 5 1/8 INCHES OR 13 cm WIDE . WEIGHT : THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF THE SHIP WITH THE GLASS CASE IS 35.4 OZ OR 1004 GRAMS . Seki Takehiko was born 1908 in Chiba Prefecture. in 1922 he moved to Tokyo w he became an apprentice to the famed master-silversmith, Tajima Katsuyuki. Master Seki later perfected his craftmanship under master Kosaka Munehiro untll 1936 when he was able to establish himself as a silversmith in his own right.He hopes for a wider range of exposure and appreciation for craft-works made in precious metals, and for this purpose utilizes the traditional handicraft method adopting modern techniques.
