This is a gorgeous 23 jelly opal 14K gold necklace that I bought for myself for the color of the opals which is very blue (no white with lots of fire. Each stone, even the smallest, shows lots of opalescence in blues, greens and pink glowing from underneath. It is old, from an estate, and I had the 17" chain replaced and added a new lobster claw clasp. It was previously done in 9K gold, and the chain in the focal area between the opals and hanging from them is still the original 9K gold. It is an exact match in color and type of chain. The opal area is 5" wide across, and hangs down 1 1/4" at the longest center teardrop opal point. As you can see, the opals are round and graduate in size closer to the center, with 3 teardrop shaped opals hanging from the bottom. I'm sorry, but I don't know the total carat weight of the opals, but use the penny for size reference. (The largest circular opal - top row, dead center - holding the biggest teardrop is 8mm in diameter, and that large teardrop is 10mm long top to bottom, as close as I could measure). The necklace is almost reversible since it is almost the same on both sides, but not quite, because the "right" side has stones that are slightly convex, or rounded, while the reverse side is more flat. You have to look twice to check that the right side is facing outward. Pictures were taken read more
