Vintage Auburn Tool Co. wooden block plane. It measures 16 in. long and about 2-3/4 in. square. The handle looks like walnut but I can't identify the wood used to make the block. It is marked on one end Auburn Tool Co. Auburn NY around a 5-point star. The other end is stamped several times with the name Chas. Garber, who I assume was the owner at one time. It has a 2-1/4 by 6-3/4 in. blade mounted in it. The plane is in very good condition. It has nicks as is o be expected on a tool of this age that has been used. There is a nick in the top of the handle. Where the handle is mounted in the block, there is 1/32 in. gap on one side. The bottom has some cracks, perhaps 1/4 in. deep into the block of the plane, none of which would affect its usefulness. All of these issues add character to the plane and are shown in the photos. It weighs almost 5 lbs. Please feel free to ask questions. Nice piece of tool history.
