Hi folks Here we have a lovely timepiece, and one we'll be sad to let go. It's a ladies Omega cocktail watch, in great condition overall. I acquired it about a month ago to see if my partner might like it, but it seems she'd prefer something a little more contemporary. She did me the favour of wearing it for a week to test the timekeeping in real-world conditions and it's reliably keeping excellent time. These watches have an interesting history... It was sold in the UK at a time when import duties for luxury watches, especially solid gold ones, had for some time been quite high. This being the case, enterprising firms like Dennison of Birmingham would import the highest quality Swiss movements and watch dials from companies like Omega and put them in their own watch cases built here in the UK, thus avoiding the steep import duties on complete Swiss watches. Over time Dennison became a particulary well-respected case-building house, and rather than importing Swiss movements independently, they instead went into partnership with Omega to supply and fit their movements into British-made cases for the UK market. This watch was one of the results of that partnership. It has a wonderful Omega Cal. 244 movement and an Omega watch face, but the case was manufactured to exacting standards in the very heart of the British jewellery industry. read more
