Very rare, vintage railroad poster, "The Vandalia Line" dated Sept. 1879. This poster was found between the walls of a Missouri-Pacific Depot in Gaylord, Kansas in the mid to late 70's. Considering it's age of 129 years, poster is in fair to good condition. Poster measures approx. 14 x 22 inches. All corners are partially missing and the edges are in intact with the exception of a piece missing from the top and the bottom being somewhat tattered. I feel like the pictures show this fairly well. The poster is torn in several places, but is stilll in one piece. The poster's backing is on parchment paper, which is in the original cond ition it was found. The poster reads as follows: The Vandalia Line - From St. Louis To Indianapolis And The East! To Cincinnati And The South-East! To Louisville And The South! (T is a map of the route, which reads:) Route of the Thro' Cars via Vandalia Line, Pan Handle and Penn(a) R.R. Two Daily Express Trains! Pullman Palace Sleeping Cars} Run over the Vandalia Line from St Louis to Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Louisvill Without Change. Get Your Tickets Over The Vandalia Line.
