Vintage 18K Gold & .800 Silver Pipe - INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA. Measures 8" long. The bottom part unscrews. Not sure of the age. Weighs approx. 33 1/2 grams. The following info came from 3 wonderfully helpful ebayers: Not a pipe but a stroh to filter the "argentinian Hyerba Mate tea" while sipping. This particular item that you are selling is a "straw" or "pipe" used to drink a traditional matte or "tea" in Argentina. Everybody drinks this herbal tea from the poorest person to the wealthiest person, like americans w/coffee. The tea leaves are put into a special cup, then boiling water is added and as it brews you drink it through the metal "straw." The elderly in particular seem to sip it all day long!! a bombilla, which is a metal straw used to drink a traditional argentine tea called mate. It bears a very strong resemblance and appears to me constructed in the same way (ie: removable bottom piece for easy cleaning). WE WILL NOT BE ENDING THIS AUCTION EARLY, PLEASE DON'T ASK.
