Item Description: Set of 11 volumes from a collection written by Charles Darwin, and published by D. Appleton and Company, New York, 1904 as a third edition. The volumes are most of a complete set written by the famous naturalist and geologist most noted for his theories on evolution. All volumes measure approximately 8" x 5.5" and contain numerous black and white sketches, and colorful fold-out maps and illustrations, depending on the topic. The list of the volumes included for sale is as follows: 1. Descent of Man 2. The Origin of Species, Volume II 3. Coral Reefs 4. Geological Observations 5. Animals and Plants Under Domestication, Volume I 6. Animals and Plants Under Domestication, Volume II 7. Insectivorous Plants 8. Power of Movement in Plants 9. The Formation of Vegetable Mould 10. Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals 11. Journal of Researchers Item Condition: The overall condition of the set is described as "good," especially for its age. Binding is tight on all volumes, and pages are unmarked.
