This is a antique hand carved Egyptian Scarab purchased on a trip to Egypt in the 1920's. It is hand carved White Limestone with a blue glaze applied over the stone. The glaze held up pretty good with very little fading and the color is like a piece of Persian tourquise. There is some small light crystalizing of the glaze in spots as you would expect from it's 80+ years age.but it does not take away from it's unique beauty. It measures 7/8 of an inch high x just shy of 1/2 inch wide and 3/8 iof an inch deep. There is a small carved mark on the back of a letter "R" and a slash mark on each side of the R. They may be a maker's mark but not sure. The metal looks like yellow gold and was tested for gold but it is not and may be a brass or mixed metal casting.
