Vintage Mackinac Island, Michigan and Duluth, Minnesota photograph album. Album looks to date from around the 1920s. It contains over 140 snapshots. Sizes vary, but many seem to run about 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches or so. T are quite a few scenes of the ship "Octorara" and its captain, dated in July, 1920 when someone took a cruise. T are quite a few scenes of ships and harbor scenes, including Mackinac Island, with the Grand Hotel t Also scenes of the locks at Sault St. Marie, Michigan, and scenes of Duluth. A few scenes toward the end illustrate a trip out west. T are typical snapshots of people, but also many of ships and scenes. I grew up in this area, in St. Ignace, just across from Mackinac Island in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This album show the era when my parents were young and when my grandfather was a commercial fisherman in the Soo area. The album is not from my family, however.
