Vintage 1929 Boy Scout Photograph Album Western Trip

Vintage photograph albumdocumenting a 1929 cross country boyscout trip. More than 200 photos taken by members of the group, plus about 10 or so stock photos of western scenes, plus newspaper clippings from papers at the start of trip & during trip. During July and August of 1929 twelve boy scouts and their scout leader, the school principal of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, went on a 9000 mile tent camping trip by truck out west and around the US. They rode in a new Reo Speed Wagon truck and took their mascot, an English bull dog, The trip went to Niagara Falls, North Platt, Cheyenne, Denver, Pikes Peak, The Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Yosemite, Salt Lake City, Yellowstone Park, and places in between. This first trip would be followed by yearly trips for about ten years through the 1930s. Also included but not pictured are a couple brochures advertising future trips - "Boys, A 9,000 Mile Trip For $190." The album is a typical black paper album. It has come apart and pages are probably not all in order, and some of the photos have come loose and are floating around between the pages. Some photos might be missing. Photos are mostly accompanied by descriptions written in white ink on the black paper. Most photos measure about 4 1/2 X 3 inches but some are larger, including the 9 1/2 X 6 1/2 inch group photo with the truck. I am currently selling many other lots of souvenirs, Navajo rugs, pottery, and other items brought back from these trips, and I will be listing more photos, cowboy & rodeo postcards, and ephemera as I find the time.
