These are very hard to find art deco 1930 Ronson Company sailor or ship captain cast pot metal bookends in very nice condition. They are guaranteed old, genuine and original. They measure over 5 inches tall and weigh over 5 and a half pounds the pair. They are in such nice condition, 99 percent of finish and no damage. They even have the original old green felts on the bases and one has the original foil Ronson foil paper label saying 16368 (model number) and colonial bronze, the finish. This is my favorite Ronson finish since it is so eye catching . It is a glowing fiery red gold copper bronze that just shines with original antique patina. These show someone very similar to the Gloucester Fisherman statue in massachusetts. It is a sea captain or sailor, strong rugged features, with original sou'wester foul rain gear, and holding onto the giant pilot steering wheel of his ship. Nice very art deco lined base and design. Kuritzky, in his antique bookend reference guide, "The Encyclopedia of Bookends", page 297, Plate 2082, entitled WEATHERBEATEN MARINER, shows this set and describes them rare and also dates them to 1930 by Ronson. Please see my other auctions for more cast metal antique and vintage bookends and doorstops that I will combine on shipping whenever possible.
