This banjo was built by the Bacon Banjo company in the 1930s. The banjo is in excellent shape and all parts are in working order. The tone is deep and rich, with great projection. I obtained this instrument a few years back and was originally told it was made by C.F. Martin for the Briggs music company in Utica New York--but not so. The inside of the instrument clearly is stamped "The Bacon Banjo Company" serial number 30189. Thanks to a fellow ebayer fo helping us identify this. We have discovered this is truly a very rare Banjo--and it is in terrific condition for its age--really plays easily and sounds fabulous.
