You are bidding on a vintage egghead-type boudoir doll most likely dating from the 1930's. "Eggheads" a term coined by boudoir doll collectors to describe these dolls because of the shape of their heads, are often attributed to the American Stuffed Novelty Company, but this doll is unmarked making it difficult to know for sure who made her. She does have the number 39 penciled on her back, but I do not know who wrote it and if it indicates the year she was made, received by her owner or anything else of significance. The doll is 30" and in very good original condition, showing only minor age related wear. There is overall dust and fading/discoloration to her hair, lips and body but there are no tears or odors. Her hair, which makes her special is a pinkish purple color floss, with three coiled buns and a braided crown. There are some loose and fly away hairs throughout and a bit of adhesive around the left side bun is visible. The doll is being offered as I purchased her...without clothing. I do not know if she was ever dressed, though she does have her original stockings and neck ribbon. I added period millinery to her hair which will stay on her but can be easily removed without causing damage.
