When was the last time you saw one of these? This is a mid-1930's metal bodied model M-15 round neck Dobro. It is also referred to as a "violin body" Dobro, because of the edge, which was a product of the way the sides are fastened to the back. The M-15 was in the middle of this particular style/line. It features a bound neck, nickel silver over brass finish, a pearl inlaid logo and engraving on the front and back of the body culminating in a handsome scroll design at the bottom of the back. Because it has a round neck it can be played on the lap or like a conventional guitar (it is currently setup this way). I gave this to my son as a Christmas present in 1993, however he has just had back surgery and it is more important that he keep his house rather than the Dobro. Although it is not mint (please refer to the pictures) it is in overall nice condition. There is some wear to the metal finish, some scratches, some very small dings, but overall way better than average. There are a couple of things I need to point out. First, the bound mahogany neck was refinished at some time in the past. There is a presentation plaque attached by small screws to the back of the body, below the neck (I had this done to cover another plate someone had previously attached).
