c.1936 Royal 'Touch Control' Model '0' Manual Portable Typewriter in Original Case A classic beauty in gloss black finish Serial #: 0-486642 All keys and functions work properly, with smooth typing (see alpha-numeric samples) Clean condition with beautiful gloss black finish 'Touch Control' was a new modification allowing personalized key-touch sensitivity to suit user (see below for more innovations with this model) Glass-covered keys Cosmetic Condition: very nice with a very few light surface nicks (see photos). The case shows wear on the outside; inside is very good Original case with front & and rear locks for secure storage "Introduced at the same time as the DeLuxe model of 1936, this popular Royal favorite offered substantial upgrades from the company's earlier portables. The list of improvements must have sounded outrageously modern and technical to the consumers of the time: touch control, finger comfort keys, genuine dust protection, accelerating typebar action, scientifically designed controls, synchronized scales all of it was an effort to produce a true precision machine in portable form. Features the famous glossy black paint finish that's so long lasting, it makes many Royals look perfectly new even decades later."
