Dated patn'd date 1933 Unusual English Art Deco Mantle shelf clock spring driven,c 1933 with original key that is also a savings bank Wind up balance wheel movement. Nicely finished wooden case in very nice condition, nice patina. Pat # 772 762 dates this clock as English 1933. The movement is not marked so we have not identified the maker On the top of the clock is the coin slot and the words t wo florins weekly florins are English coins. We did not have Englisg florins so wound the clock and dropped in an american quarter and the clock started, we also tried with a Canadian twoonie ($2.00 coin) and this wotked as well Because it takes 2 coins a week to operate the clock it runs only 2 1/2 days approx. then another coin must be put into the bank.So (2 florins a week) First you wind up the clock, then drop in the coin which triggers the mechanism and the clock runs. Repeat after a few days. The coins drop down and accumulate. Coins are removed by removing the back panel. After going through the slot at the top the coins start the clock and drop into the bank part to save.
