Oaktree-Collectibles "Simply the Finest" Offered is a Vintage Rocking Horse Covered Jar produced by McCoy Pottery from 1948 to 1953. Nelson McCoy and J.W. McCoy established the Nelson McCoy Sanitary and Stoneware Company in Roseville, Ohio, in 1910. In 1933, it became the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company. Pieces marked McCoy were made by the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company. Various styles of jars were made from about 1940 until December 1990, when the McCoy factory closed. The rocking horse is wearing a Western tooled saddle and has greenery between the legs. The pale beige background has been hand decorated with brown, green and yellow underglazes. The molded detailing to the piece is truly fine. T are also hand painted details to the face, bridle and saddle. The jar measures 4-1/2âe wide at the front, 11âe long from nose tip to tail and stands 9-1/2âe tall to the tip of the ears. It is in Very Good condition with no chips, cracks or damage. T is wear to the painted details w it was handled to open the lid and can be seen in the photos. The finish is in good condition with minor crazing throughout.
