Up for auction is an incredible long gown by designer Helena Barbieri - who designed some of the most gorgeous, fancy gowns of her era (1940s-1960s). The dress is 100% silk - a beautiful, subtle ombre green floral damask - If you look closely, the gown's green background goes from light to forest green at the bottom - while the flowers (as I can only describe as chrysanthemums) remain the same hue throughout the entire gown. The gown is strapless with some gorgeous and sophisticated folds at the sides of the bust line. The waist is simple while the skirt falls to the right into a gathered bow at the right side. Stunning!!! The form I am fitting the gown on for photos is a size 6. This gown fits it very well, so I am assuming it is a size 6. The inside of the gown is lined with muslin. The gown is handout and hand sewn. You rarely see such an exquisite piece of vintage clothing these days that is without any holes or damage!! This gown is in excellent condition and exquisite vintage condition.!! There is a tag with Helena Barbieri's name that states the gown is all silk. There is also a union label that assures that the gown was made in the USA.
