This is one of the original fire helmets from the Sturgeon Fire Department in Sturgeon, Pennsylvania which was established in 1947. The helmet is metal, has a chin strap, has the Cairns plate inside and still has the leather Sturgeon shield on the front. The leather shield has shown some obvious signs of aging. A small part of the leather above the name has cracked off due to the leather getting old and brittle. This helmet would make an awesome addition to any fire fighters memorabilia collection.
