I'm pleased to offer for your bid this "Lovely" CIRCA 1940 ROYAL CROWN Art Pottery BASKET VASE. It measures 5-1/2" tall X 4-7/8" long X 2-7/8" wide. The diameter of its base foot is 2-3/8". This distinctive small size vase features an "Arts & Crafts" inspired design in MOSS GREEN with shades of BROWN. It's wide fan-shaped mouth is pinched at the center to accommodate a low applied handle. A smooth tapered body culminates in a perfectly round base foot. Ancient residue from a label remains on the unfinished white clay bottom along with a faded ink stamp maker's mark that reads: Royal Crown / Hand Made Pottery (see image). ROYAL CROWN POTTERY was founded by Victor Obler in Merry Oaks (Chatham County) N.C. in 1939. The company operated until 1942 during an arduous wartime economy. More than just another North Carolina potter, the company's clean line designs and colorful glazes reflected the decorative style of that era. A shelf-sitter for many decades, this "Fine Example" is NICE & CLEAN with a satin smooth semi-gloss finish inside & out and NO CHIPS or CRACKS! The menagerie of marks on it's unglazed bottom only adds to it's provenance. This ROYAL CROWN Art Pottery BASKET VASE is in EXCELLENT "Previously Owned" CONDITION! SHIPPING: USPS DOMESTIC shipping charge is calculated from the bidders ZIP CODE. Please note that a flat $2.00
