This saddle came from an estate sale in upstate New York. I contacted the Hamley Company and while the serial number is incomplete, we were able to determine that the saddle was made by Duff Severe (not positive about the last name) in 1946. The saddle was ordered by C. J. Walter who was part of a family that operated several famous and popular east coast guest ranches with the most famous being the Cimarron and Cinnabar ranches located in Peekskill, NY. I read an article that said both Gene Autry and Roy Rogers were friends of the Walter family and had visited their "dude" ranches on occasion. The back of the cantle is stamped "SPECIAL L 96" and the woman at Hamley said it should be stamped with "B21 31" but I can't find it anyw The saddle is also stamped "CINNABAR" and "GUEST" on the fork and seat, and the Hamley logo is stamped on the front of the seat and on the latigo holder. While the saddle is not in usable condition, what's remaining is not in terrible condition. The dark brown leather is stiff but not dry rotted and the fork, horn, seat and cantle feel solid. I can't guarantee the condition of the tree, but it doesn't feel broken or wobbly. The fenders aren't real bad but the leather straps that hold the stirrups need repaired or maybe replaced. It has a 14" seat and t are some "nicks" in the leather (mostly on the horn
