Vintage 1948-53 Kalart Press Camera 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 w/127mm Wollensak Raptar LensThis Kalart II Folding Press Camera with Dual Range Finders and a 127mm/f 4.5 Wollensak Lens, was made in Germany. The Bellows are in good supple condition but have not been tested for light leaks. The Lens has no scratches, haze or fungus. The film format is 3.25 x 4.25 inches, with dual rangefinder windows to allow for use with either eye. It has a Wollensak f4.5/127mm Lens and a Wollensak Raptar in Rapax 1-1/400 second shutter. Dual shutter-release triggers are controlled by an Electric Brain. It uses either Sheet film: 3.25 x 4.25" inches or press-type film packs. The camera has a built-in synchronization, manual focus by ground glass, and scale focusing, a coupled rangefinder (by Kalart) with a single window range and 2 view finders, plus a built-in "Focus-Spot",This camera was durable, beautifully styled and became a workhorse of the press corps during World War II and remained popular within the scientific community throughout the 1950s. It's 3.25 x 4.25 inch format was well liked not only because it was a large format but at this size it fit in nearly perfectly with scientific use in lantern slides which measure 3.25 x 4 inches.
