Available for auction is a Working Vintage 1950's Die Cast Metal "Atomic Bank". This is a 1950's version of a space age atomic ray gun, measuring approximately 8 1/2" long, 3 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" deep. The completely working firing mechanism operates by placing a coin on top of the gun, against the carrier, pull the trigger and shoot the coin into the slot for deposit into the bank. The slot is marked with a red "bull's eye". Below the slot is marked "ATOMIC BANK" molded into the metal. Just below that is a blue sticker which says "PEOPLES FIRST NATIONAL BANK & TRUST COMPANY". The back of the bank has a round blue and yellow sticker which says "Think of PEOPLES FIRST" in the center, "ALL AROUND THE TOWN" above that and "CONVENIENT BANKING" below. The bottom of the bank has "DURO PATTERN - MOLD CO. DETROIT MI. U.S.A." This item was made in Highland Park, Michigan and it was recommended as follows: "keep gun oiled" in the original boxed instructions (note: the original box is NOT included in this auction). The silver paint has some wear as result of age, t are a few nicks and scratches, but nothing noteworthy. It still "fires" the coin into the slot. T does not appear to be any repair of any kind.
