Today I am selling a magnificent Victorian Revival 18k gold and sodalite brooch from the 1950s. This piece has an unusual design of a carved sodalite (a stone similar to lapis lazuli) leaf set onto an 18k gold base with small leaf shaped prongs. On top of the blue stone leaf is a beetle, also of carved sodalite, with brass or alloy metal legs and antennae. Reaching down from above is a delicate veined hand that is 18k gold like the base. It is hallmarked '18k' for 18 carat gold in the middle of the back. There is a large curved loop on the back, ready for a chain, and the pin and safety clasp are tight and in good working order. Condition: Very good to excellent. Minor tarnish to the 18k gold, mostly on the back. No chips or cracks to the sodalite. The stone leaf is slightly loose in its setting and jiggles around, but is not in danger of falling out. Circa: 1940s to 1950s Measurements: 1 1/2 inches long, a little over 1 1/8 inches at its widest, and about 7/16 of an inch deep (not including clasp or loop); weighs 9.35 grams Shipping to the US only. I will mail this listing via priority mail with tracking and insurance. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me through eBay. Pleas check out my other vintage and antique jewelry listings for combined shipping.
