You are biddingon an original 1950s bowl by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden. The bowl has an oval shape with an exquisite glaze with a chocolate brown background with hints of black and highlights of blue on the outside. The bowl is marked with the typical Rörstrand three crowns placed around an ‘R’, as well as GN and ARO (please see pictures). The bowl is in excellent condition. The bowl is marked a factory second. however I cannot see any defects that would warrant this. Please note : We specialise in selling vintage items. Although we strive to give as accurate a description as possible, patina and age-related wear are to be expected. However, we will always indicate any noticeable defects. Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997), one of Sweden’s most celebrated artist ceramicists, is particularly famous for his subtle glazes and his fine pieces. He collaborated with Rörstrand for a large part of his career (1931 to 1959) producing tableware as well as large public pieces. This beautiful bowl is a testament to his craftsmanship and his eye for shape and colour; a must for the collector. Why buy new when you can get a great original piece which will never lose value or style?
