This auction is for a vintage 1950's Winnie the Walking and Talking Doll from my childhood. Made by The Advance Doll & Toy Company, New Haven, Connecticut. 25 inches tall. Original dress, panties and socks. The lined organdy dress is in nice condition, but the lining it fragile. There is a cotton slip that was by my mother. The original panties have lost their elasticity. She also acquired a little straw had along the way. The company slogan for Winnie---"She walks! She talks! She sings!" Her hard plastic body was assembled in pieces to allow access to her mechanical parts, including a small phonograph that played a record that made her talk and sing. She has brown/auburn saran hair and permanent shoes with rollers. Her body is in very good condition with no breaks. She has the original key in her side and it turns. The rollers still move on her shoes and she moves her legs back and forth, if you stand over her and aid her along she walks, kind of like helping a little one to walk for the first time! Her unclouded eyes open and close and she still has perfect eyelashes and her two front teeth. She no longer talks, although the prong to make her talk is still intact. I have not taken her apart, as I am not mechanical, perhaps someone who is can give her speech lessons!I remember well, the Christmas of 1953 when Winnie came to live
