Vintage 1956 C. Plath Hamburg Germany Micrometer Sextant Attest w/ Wooden Case The sextant is an instrument for navigation in the early 18th century. This instrument is useful for "Lunar Distance" or the distance between the Moon and a known star. This sextant features clean optics, smooth focus, traditional split horizon mirror, a very strong frame, 4 index & 3 horizon shades and a smooth micrometer. This item comes with the original mahogany box. It also comes with a certificate. Do not miss out on this rare, collectable and valuable item!Company History: (From the Internet) Carl Plath started manufacturing sextants, in addition to other nautical products, in Hamburg Germany in 1862 though the company's origin dates back to 1837. As a result�WW II, C.Plath was dismantled completely by the occupation forces.Condition: This C. Plath Sextant is in good condition. Several small markings on Sextant. Wooden case has ding and scratches on the sides and top. Keys has rust on them. Nothing major. Item has not been tested.
