This auction is for a Vintage 1956 Schwinn Spitfire balloon tire bike, womens model in kelly green with cream accents. This bike is slightly upgraded to match the Hornet model, with the addition of the tank and rear rack. Both rack and tank are non-standard. The tank has been modified and the horn removed and replaced by 2 half balls. Odd. the rear rack is a Schwinn model appropriate to the hornet and is chromed. The chrome is not in perfect shape. Also, the headbadge is blue and silver - not exactly the original badge. Most of the rest of this middleweight bicycle looks original, including the rear tire. The bike is a good rider, with the brake even stopping the bicycle. The tires a on the very rough side of things and need to be replaced. The fork trusses are also starting to lose the chrome and rusting. Front fender is missing the original light but the holes are still in the fender. This bike frame was built in May of 1956.
