This little cherub is Chatty Cathy, one o f the most po pular dolls of the 1960s . Mattel made many flavors of Chatty Cathy -- with different hair and eye com binations and speaker combinations. This is a hard faced Pig tail Chatty Cathy with brunette hair. She is what collecto rs call a No. 5, meaning she was the last variation made, with an open speaker and a series of small holes beneath it and her hair in pigtails. She's a cute doll wearing her original red and white lace Ch ristmas dress. She is a cute doll with a few condition issues . She's note for a picky collector .She is missin g her two front teeth and her magic pull ring. These No. 5 dolls are among the easiest to repair but at the moment she is mute. She has a few marks here and there on her body, signs of play. Notabl y a pale red stain on the back of her left leg and a similar mark on h er right on. Her blue eyes are clear and her lashes are full. Her face is a little shiny.She has lots of long dark hair. It falls in layers. Mattel did this on many dolls. But I'm not certain if this is a fac tory c ut. She may have had a trim. It still looks nice ot my eye and there is plenty of hair here to style with no thinning or bald patches.
