2-PIECE SET VINTAGE 1960s WOVEN FIGURINES FROM MEXICO MARY RIDING ON A DONKEY, HOLDING BABY JESUS, AND JOSEPH WALKING ALONG SIDE. I know nothing about this set other than it is one of the most interesting sets I have seen. I believe it to be from Mexico from the early 1960s. A truly fascinating set! Made entirely of a couple of kinds of woven materials, perhaps some kind of coarsely woven fabric and a finely woven straw, shaped and then stiffened. The detail is great; they are carrying bags, rolled up mats, picnic baskets, cork soles on their shoes; etc. The polychrome designs on the clothes are all handpainted, as are the facial features on the figures. Figures are in excellent condition with no damage. The Mary figurine stands approx. 8 1/2" tall and 8" long. The Joseph figurine stands about 7 1/2" tall. Please ask any questions prior to end of auction as all sales are final. Buyer pays postage and insurance, and payment is due within 10 days.
