For sale is SET of TWO (2) vintage BERGHOFF RESTAURANT tankards (or beer mugs/steins). These are made of medium gauge vitrified porcelain. They have "The Berghoff" name in script font embossed on the front. They have a rich, high gloss golden brown glaze on the exterior and white glaze on the interior. The Berghoff Restaurant was opened in 1898 by Herman Joseph Berghoff and has become a Chicago landmark. It is still opened and located at 17 West Adams Street, Chicago, Illinois, near the center of the Chicago Loop.These pieces are marked on the bottom with the circular Hall China logo and marked "Made in U.S.A." This logo was used by Hall china from circa 1930 to 1970.Each tankard stands approximately 6 inches tall, 3 inches in diameter across the top rim, and 3-1/2 inches across the base. The capacity is approximately 14 fluid ounces. These are heavy duty mugs weighing over 1-1/2 pounds each.These vintage pieces are in excellent used condition. They are clean and shiny. There are very little, very light use marks to the exterior glass. Please see photographs. There is no post-factory damage, such as nicks, chips, cracks, crazing, hairlines or repairs.
