Vintage 1960's Ornate Syroco French Gold Roses Plaque Mid-Century Retro Wall Hanging Beautiful Chic Summer Roses & Gold Leaves Manufactured by Burwood Products Company Made in the USA Craftsmanship like this raised 3-D effect plaque can not be found today. Brief History on Syroco Inc. We found the beginning of the Syracuse Ornamental Company in 1890 by an immigrant, Adolph Holsteing; this company specialized in decorative wood craving. To meet the demand of this popular decoration product; the founder developed a material that looked and felt like wood, but could be molded. This material was wood pulp and flour; which gave them the strength that was needed. The new molded product was named "SyrocoWood" and became the company's main product. In the 1930's the company developed a new line; which combine wood flour with polymer; this line was called "Woodite" .In the 1960's the company developed injection molding for some of it's products, but for the older lines; they still used the old processes.
