Vintage Original from many years ago Jan. 1961, Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Railroad Company Passenger Train Ferry Dining Car Syracuse China Co. CHESSIE PATTERN White w/Cobalt Blue Dinner Plate. White - background. Pinstrip - cobalt blue and goldish brown. Logo of Train Ferry Service Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in black. Measures approx. 9 7/8" diameter. Backstamped very clearly: "C Syracuse China USA 90 and 11 dots" with first one missing which indicates January 1961 production date. Plate is in good condition other than there is a crow's foot in center of plate on top, but not bottom. I tried to get pictures of it, but it was difficult to get to show. See pictures for details. A very nice Original C&O Ferry Service china item for collector of railroadiana memorabilia.From 1900 to 1920 most of the C&O's lines tapping the rich bituminous coal fields of southern West Virginai and eastern Kentucky were built, and the C&O as it was known throughout the rest of the 20th Century was essentially in place.In 1910 C&O merged the Chicago, Cincinnati & Louisville RR into its system. This line had been built diagonally across the state of Indiana from Cincinnati to Hammond in the preceding decade.
