This is a vintage KAPA electric guitar. It was made in the USA and I believe this is the Challenger model. KAPA guitars were made in Maryland in the 1960's and are fairly rare. This guitar appears to be pretty much all original except someone, at some point, crudely spray painted the body black over the original red finish. They also spray painted right over the white pickguard, tailpiece and pickups. Thankfully they did not spray paint the neck, however they did get some paint on the end of the neck (see photos). The spray painting was poorly done and there are runs as well as thin spots. It appear to have been cheap spray paint. Again, the original red finish is under the black. I had intended to take the guitar apart and remove the paint from the pickguard, pickups and tailpiece, and then see if I could remove it from the body while leaving the original red finish (I have sometimes been able to do this in the past). I have not had the time to get to it so I'm selling it "as is" with No Reserve and a very low starting price. It has several scratches, nicks and wear but no cracks or breaks. It's missing two of the knobs and the plastic switch tip (minor). There are some very small screw holes on the headstock from a string retainer bar and a string retainer (see photo, also minor). The KAPA logo decal on the headstock shows wear read more
