Superb Vintage 1967 Hagstrom Viking V-1! Original Condition! As Good As It Gets! This vintage Hagstrom Viking I is in fantastic all-original condition. As stunning as it looks, it sounds better, absolutely amazing! This one rivals a similar era Gretsch for tone, I swear. Made in Sweden and offered from 1965-1967, the Viking 1, also advertised as the V-1, is a thinline semi-hollowbody archtop. The gorgeous cherry red top is almost perfect except for a tiny nick at the f-hole and a few small lazy finish cracks (weather checking). Nary a buckle mark on back, just some long checking down the middle. There are a couple of small nicks along the headstock edge, and a spot of wear along the bass side of the neck, a sure sign of a truly enjoyable axe to play. The back of the arrow-straight neck has a few marks and a check down the middle, none affecting play in any way. Some oxidation and nickel/chrome-plate loss is evident on the hardware. The original frets are freshly dressed and polished, and the beautiful rosewood fingerboard is totally smooth. Lastly, the binding along the neck has a small split at the 7th fret on the treble side. The Viking 1 has a 16" wide maple body with maple back, sides, and neck. Both top and back are multi-bound and the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay is bound, too.
