They stopped producing it nearly 20 years ago. There are a few tiny scratches on blade and brass.Still has original price tag of $35.00 on itThis is an awesome blade, very heavy duty and will last forever.Beautiful for display or everyday use 440C is a "high carbon" chromium stainless steel, capable of developing high hardness and high mechanical properties by conventional heat treating methods. 440C exhibits best corrosion resistance in the hardened condition. It has excellent resistance to wear and abrasion and is magnetic in all conditions. It develops the highest hardness of the stainless steels. Backstory: The original Folding Sportsman was introduced in 1972. It was designed by Al Mar, based on Ron Lake's InterFrame (Al was a packaging designer, not a knife designer). Al had asked Ron for permission to copy the InterFrame exactly, but he was not authorized by Pete Gerber to pay royalties to knifemakers, so Ron turned him down.
