Back in the 80s Yamaha produced some of the best drums around. In fact they didn't make any bad drums at all. This is a Yamaha 5000 series The drums are 5 ply mahogany with the following sizes: 12x8 13x9 16x16 22x14. Everything seems is really solid, the hoops are thick and the overall impression is that this is well made quality drum kit. The bearing edges are good. One of the hoops on the 12" is non original Everything is in really nice shape. For a set that is over 30 years old I would consider it much better than average
