In 1845 the city of New York issued it's first police badges with the formation of the Municipal Police force. At this time California was part of Mexico, Texas and Florida were just granted statehood and pioneers began following the Oregon trail to settle what was known as Oregon Country controlled by Great Britain and the U.S. Badge is regulation issued not a repro. This badge is about 3 inches with pin and fastener missing. Very old item not many of these left known to exist New Jersey 1st issue unknown department is shown for reference only and is not part of this auction. Normal wear and patina for age. T is no reserve on this badge it will be sold to the highest bidder, we expect it will go for a few thousand dollars.All items sold "as is".
