Beautiful cutlery and carving set has carved elk horn handles, perfect for an outdoorsman or collector. The 29-piece set includes 12 dinner forks, 12 steak knives, cleaver, carving knife and fork, poultry scissors and sharpener. The handles are carved as follows: dinner forks & steak knives: jumping elk cleaver: running boar carving knife: jumping elk carving fork: doe poultry scissors: flying duck sharpener: running foxKnives and cleaver have colored engravings of elk and scenery on the blades. Look closely at the photos for detail. This set was made in Solingen Germany by the famous Anton Wingen Jr., who made swords and daggers for the German army during WWI and WWII. Blades are stamped with "Anton Wingen Jr. Solingen Germany Rostfrei" (Rostfrei means they are stainless--think 'rust free'). While no documentation is with the set, it is assumed to be at least 50-60 years old, yet it is in pristine mint condition, and does not appear to have ever been used. T are no scratches on any of the pieces and all the steak knives come with the original cardboard sleeves (removed for photos). The set comes in 2 boxes: one deep box houses the carving set in the bottom and a lift-out tray houses 6 knives and 6 forks. A second shallow box houses another 6 knives and 6 forks. Boxes are made of cardboard with red satin lining. The boxes are in fair condition for their age. The satin lining is in very good condition.
